WOQOD Sustainability Overview
WOQOD demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing the complexities of sustainable development. Within our organization, sustainability is an integral part of all operational facets, aiming to ensure the responsible, equitable, and secure delivery of energy required for an expanding population.
Our commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals aligns closely with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. We fully recognize our duty to protect and conserve the environment. This involves a continuous process of identifying and assessing the environmental impacts stemming directly from our operations, along with developing strategies to mitigate these impacts.
This approach concurrently promotes environmental preservation, social advancement, and economic prosperity, with the overarching goal of safeguarding the interests of future generations against potential compromises stemmino from our present actions.
Annual Sustainability Reports:
Since 2013, WOQOD has been annually publishing a Sustainability Report detailing its achievements in various areas, including environmental, social, and governance aspects. This report is prepared in alignment with the principles of materiality established by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), covering topics that reflect the organization’s significant economic, environmental, and social impact.
The information presented in the sustainability report is based on historical performance data and data from the reporting period. Data is calculated using standard guidelines, assumptions, and methodologies. For example, greenhouse gas emissions data is derived from standard formulas and calculations. Unless otherwise specified, the quantitative data highlighted in the annual sustainability report covers the entire reporting period from January 1 to December 31.
The report includes information on critical strategic decisions and initiatives that were launched during the reporting period.
Sustainability Highlights:
Here at WOQOD, we’re thrilled to release the tenth edition of our Sustainability Report, originally published in 2013. It follows the standards established by the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).
This report’s scope was determined after thoroughly evaluating the nature and scale of WOQOD’s business and its specific sustainability concerns. Considering stakeholder opinions, overall business risks, current sustainability trends, and industry best practices helped us identify the material factors most essential to our organization.

Highlighting Sustainability Report 2023:
We are delighted to announce the release of the eleventh edition of our Sustainability Report, continuing a tradition that began in 2013. This report adheres to the standards set by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Operational Excellence and Financial Performance:
WOQOD's fuel business experienced significant growth in 2023, with a 5% increase in total sales volume compared to 2022. This growth was primarily driven by a 16% increase in Jet Fuel sales. However, net profit attributable to shareholders decreased by 8%, amounting to QAR 984 million in 2023, down from QAR 1,070 million in 2022. -
Renewable Energy Initiatives:
We successfully inaugurated our third petrol station powered by solar energy in partnership with Siraj Energy. Additionally, we partnered with KAHRAMAA to integrate Electric Vehicle Chargers (EVC) into 19 of our petrol stations. These initiatives align with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and highlight our commitment to alternative energy solutions. -
HSE Targets:
WOQOD successfully achieved the Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF) target for 2023, attaining a rate of 0.189 compared to the targeted rate of 0.333. We also met the Total Recordable Case Frequency (TRCF) target, achieving a rate of 0.425 against the targeted rate of 0.899

Environmental Commitment:
In line with Qatar National Vision 2030, we reduced Light Gas Oil (LGO) usage for bitumen heating, demonstrating our dedication to minimizing environmental impact through innovative solutions and optimized processes. We also introduced ADBLUE dispensing systems in our new fleet to adhere to stringent NOx emissions standards, ensuring compliance and proactively reducing harmful emissions from Euro6 vehicles/engines. -
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Achievements:
The year 2023 was distinguished by significant achievements, including obtaining the prestigious British Safety Council five-star certification and a bronze award from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Additionally, we completed the establishment project for process safety management.
