JOB OBJECTIVE:
To perform the system engineering control activities of IT operations
including systems programming, establishing standards & methods, data base
management and OS control tools in Woqod.
Description
System Performance
Conduct diagnostics of the IT operating systems (UNIX, Windows), servers and database systems to evaluate their performance & cost effectiveness in order to make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
System Control & Maintenance
Provide implementation support to ensure that all major system hardware & applications, operating system and database systems are operated and maintained cost effectively and meet agreed service levels and standards and user and business needs.
Coordinate with Team Leader to ensure all
licensing requirements are met.
System Engineering
Assess and propose technical requirements and specifications to the systems team leader for Woqod's computer systems, servers, hardware, software and accessories required for IT infrastructure.
Provide feedback on cost estimates and budgets to the team leader to help in preparation of tenders and contracting arrangements with computer and IT technical services contractors.
Test and evaluates new systems hardware and software.
Project Scope
Prepare scope of work for major system jobs and present the same to the Systems Team Leader & the Technical Support Section Head for review and approval.
System Security & Data Back-up
Follow guidelines, policy, procedures and standards for IT & database systems security and backup while implementing an effective & robust control (authorization), back up, virus defence and security systems to safeguard & protect and ensure the reliability & integrity of data.
