WOQOD achieves QR 253 million at the end of the First Quarter of the year 2021<p>​</p><p style="text-align:center;"><strong>Doha, Qatar • 14 April 2021</strong> </p><p style="text-align:center;"><strong> </strong></p><p style="text-align:center;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>WOQOD achieves QR 253 million at the end of the First Quarter of the year 2021</strong></span></p><p>Qatar Fuel Company, hereinafter referred to as (WOQOD) ‎or "WOQOD Group" or "the Group", with code name "QFLS" on Qatar Stock Exchange, a company with an exclusive concession in the State of Qatar to distribute, sell, transport and market refined petroleum products & gas within State of Qatarو including airports and seaports, either by itself or through subsidiary ‎companies "QJET, FAHES & WOQOD Marine",  announced that its Board of Directors had held its Second meeting for the year 2021 at 1:30 pm. on Wednesday April 14<sup>th</sup> 2021 under the chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Saif Al-Sulaiti. In order to comply with governmental restrictions issued to combat the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19), the meeting was held remotely through the utilization the Video Call facility. The Board discussed the performance of the business operations and the financial results of WOQOD Group for the First Quarter of the year 2021 ended on 31 March 2021, compared to the same results achieved in the corresponding period of the year 2020.</p><p>WOQOD Group net profit for the period (excluding minority rights) amounted to QR. 253 million, compared to an amount of QR. 226 million achieved in the same period in the year 2020, with an increase of QR. 27 million, representing an increase rate of 12%. The earning per share for the period amounted to QR. 0.25 compared to QR. 0.23 for the same period of last year 2020.</p><p>The increase in net profit and earnings per share compared to the same period in 2020 was due to the relative increase in sales of petroleum and non-petroleum products, and to a 15% reduction in administrative and general expenditures costs prompted by the implementation of the efficiency and cost optimization policy. </p><p>As for the company's operations, Mr. Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi, Managing Director and CEO, explained that the First Quarter of 2021 witnessed an increase in diesel sales by 3%, super gasoline sales by 10%, natural gas by 21%, retail fuel sales by 4% and non-petroleum retail sales by 5%, thanks to the opening of several additional fuel stations in the period following the first quarter of 2020. On the other hand, jet fuel sales decreased by 23% compared to the same period in the year 2020, due to the decline in airline activities following the spread of the Corona pandemic and restrictions imposed on many airports around the world. </p><p>On the other hand, Al Muhannadi explained that during the first quarter of 2021the company opened a new gas station in Al Mearad area, and therefore the total number of stations by the end of the first Quarter 2021 amounted to 107 stations. He explained that the company intends to complete the construction of five (5) more new stations by the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, and further explained that WOQOD has a dynamic plan in the construction of the new stations that is being reviewed periodically according to the conditions of fuels demand and the need for fuel stations.</p><p>In conclusion, Al-Muhannadi stressed that WOQOD has been closely coordinating and cooperating with all partners in order to implement the official directives issued by the State of Qatar with the aim of combating the spread of the corona "COVID-19" pandemic. Earning by share for the period amounted to QR. 0.71, compared to QR 1.22 for the past year, while Shareholders Equity decreased by about 1.3% to reach about 8.6 billion riyals compared to 8.7 billion riyals for 2019. The decline in net profit and earnings per share was attributed to the slowdown caused by the spread of the Covid-19 corona pandemic, which the company managed to reduce its negative impacts by taking several proactive steps and initiatives to ensure continuity of its business under these critical circumstances, in addition to the continuation of the company’s efforts to implement its policy of increasing efficiency and rationalizing expenditures, which had a significant impact on reducing the decline in profits achieved compared to 2019.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:6pt 0in 0pt;line-height:130%;"><span style="line-height:130%;font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">The CEO and Managing Director has stated that there was an upward trend in results for the third and fourth quarters of 2020 driven by increased fuel sales and the market recovery from Corona virus “Covid-19” pandemic impacts.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:6pt 0in 0pt;line-height:130%;"><span style="line-height:130%;font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">Based on the company's profits in 2020, and taking into account the requirements of current and future projects that the company intends to establish through the approved five-year business plan, the Board has recommended to the company's Annual Shareholders General Assembly scheduled for 08/03/2021 to approve a dividend distribution to shareholders of 0.46 QR per share.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:6pt 0in 0pt;"><span style="line-height:115%;font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">In terms of the company's operations, Mr. Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi, CEO and Managing Director, explained that year 2020 witnessed a decrease in total sales of petroleum products by about 21%, compared to the same period in 2019, due to supply and demand factors and the negative effects of the Corona "Covid-19" pandemic, where diesel sales decreased by 9%, Super gasoline by 10%, premium gasoline by 9%, jet fuel by -33%, bitumen by 60%, LPG by 3%, and oil retail sales across gas stations decreased by 2% compared to the year 2019 results. On the other hand, sales of bunker fuel and natural gas increased by 7% and 13%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019, while non-oil retail sales revenues, including Sidra sales, increased by 11%, due to the opening of several new petrol stations. In this regard, Al Muhannadi pointed out that the company has supported the non-oil retail services sector by marketing its automotive service products (oils and greases) through tie-up with international manufacturers of these products.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:6pt 0in 0pt;"><span style="line-height:115%;font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">The Board reviewed and approved the current and future projects that the company plans to establish, where the company has opened one technical inspection center, and 12 new petrol stations, thus increased the number of stations operating by the end of 2020 to 108 stations, and the number of technical inspection centers reached 12 centers. The first quarter of 2021 will witness the completion of the construction and operation of three new stations, in addition to five (5) other stations to be completed in year 2021. The Board discussed the performance of the business operations and the financial results of WOQOD Group at the end of Third Quarter of the year 2020 ended on 30 September 2020, compared to the results achieved in the corresponding period of the year 2019.</p><p>Mr. Saad Rashid Al-Muhannadi WOQOD Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer‎ explained that ‎WOQOD Group's net profits and overall sales volumes have witnessed a considerable increase in the Third Quarter of the year 2020 compared to the Second Quarter of the same year.</p><p>He also explained that WOQOD Group's net profit for the period (excluding minority rights) amounted to QR. 429 million, compared to an amount of QR. 872 million achieved in the same period of the year 2019, with a decrease of QR. 443 million, representing a decrease rate of 51%. The earning per share for the period amounted to QR. 0.43 per share compared to QR. 0.88 for the same period of last year.</p><p>The decrease of the net profits and earning per share for the period were partly attributed to the market slow down prompted by COVID-19 spread.</p><p>With regard to the company's operations, Mr. Al-Muhannadi‎ explained that the company overall sales of petroleum products decreased by 23% as compared to the same period of last year driven by the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Diesel, Super Gasoline and Premium Gasoline sales decreased by 11%, 14%, and 9% respectively, and Jet fuel volumes decreased by 34% driven by the reduced operations of the airlines due to the suspension of air traffic in most countries globally. Bitumen sales have decreased by 64% driven by macro-economic factors, COVID-19 pandemic and the completion of the major projects. The LPG sales decreased by 3% compared to the same period of 2019. Refined Petroleum Products retail sales from petrol stations decreased by 3% compared to the same period of last year driven by micro-economic factors as well as the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic.</p><p>On the other hand, he explained that  Bunkering fuel "HFO" increased by 18%, natural gas sales increase by 9% compared to the same period in 2019, and retail non-fuel revenue, including Sidra sales, increased by 11% as compared to the same period of the last year driven by the opening of new stations.</p><p>In the field of the petrol stations project Mr. Al Muhannadi pointed out that the petrol stations operated by  "WOQOD" as of October 15<sup>th </sup>2020  totaled to 106 stations, whereas the company intends to add five (5) more stations by the end of the current year 2020.  </p><p>For the purpose of improving the profitability of the company Mr. Al-Muhannadi indicated that the company will continue to increase the levels of implementation of its efficiency and cost optimization initiatives as this will further improve the returns for the company and its shareholders. </p><p>In conclusion, Al-Muhannadi indicated that WOQOD had and still being working closely with its partners to coordinate the implementation of all the governmental directives issued in furtherance of combating the spread and the negative effects of COVID-19. In order to comply with governmental restrictions issued to combat the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19), the meeting was held remotely through the utilization of a Video Call<span dir="RTL"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font></span>facility. The Board discussed the performance of the business operations and the financial results of WOQOD Group for the First Half of the year 2020 ended on 30 June 2020, compared to the results achieved in the corresponding period of the year 2019.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:3pt 0in 0pt;line-height:115%;"><span style="color:windowtext;font-family:"times new roman",serif;"><font size="3">WOQOD Group’s net profit for the period (excluding minority rights) amounted to QR. 270 million, compared to an amount of QR. 548 million achieved in the same period of the year 2019, with a decrease of QR. 278 million, representing a decrease of 51%. The earning per share for the period amounted to QR. 0.27 per share compared to QR. 0.55 for the same period of last year.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:3pt 0in 0pt;line-height:115%;"><span style="color:windowtext;font-family:"times new roman",serif;"><font size="3">The decrease of the net profits and earning per share for the period were partly attributed to the market slow down prompted by COVID-19 spread and partly to supply and demand factors on petroleum products. The decrease of petroleum product distribution margins is also one of the factors that have participated in net profits and earning per share decrease.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:3pt 0in 0pt;line-height:115%;"><span style="color:windowtext;font-family:"times new roman",serif;"><font size="3">With regard to the company's operations, he explained that the company overall sales of petroleum products decreased by 22% as compared to the same period of last year driven by the COVID-19 impact. Diesel and Super Gasoline sales decreased by 12% and 22% respectively, Premium Gasoline sales decreased by 14%, and Jet fuel volumes decreased by 28% driven by the reduced operations of Qatar Airways and Private Airlines due to the suspension of air traffic in most countries globally. Bitumen sales have decreased by 66% driven by market situations, COVID-19 pandemic and the completion of the major projects. The LPG sales decreased by 3% compared to the parallel period of 2019, and the decrease is attributed to the factors of supply and demand. Refined Petroleum Products retail sales from petrol stations decreased by 8% compared to the same period of last year as a consequence of the low consumption prompted by COVID-19 pandemic. <span style=""><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:3pt 0in 0pt;line-height:115%;"><span style="color:windowtext;font-family:"times new roman",serif;"><font size="3">On the other hand, he explained that<span style=""><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">  </font></span>Bunkering fuel increased by 12% compared to the same period in 2019, and retail non-fuel revenue, including Sidra Sales, increased by 8% as compared to the same period of the last year driven by the opening of new stations and higher footfall in C-stores.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:3pt 0in 0pt;line-height:115%;"><span style="color:windowtext;font-family:"times new roman",serif;"><font size="3">In the field of the petrol stations project and the company newly acquired assets, he pointed out that the petrol stations operated by <span style=""><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font></span>“WOQOD” at the end of June 2020 <span style=""><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman"> </font></span>totaled to 104 stations, whereas the company intends to add eight (8) more stations by the end of the current year 2020. In order to comply with governmental restrictions issued to combat the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19), the meeting was held remotely through the utilization the Video Call facility. The Board discussed the performance of the business operations and the financial results of WOQOD Group for the First Quarter of the year 2021 ended on 31 March 2021, compared to the same results achieved in the corresponding period of the year 2020.</p><p>WOQOD Group net profit for the period (excluding minority rights) amounted to QR. 253 million, compared to an amount of QR. 226 million achieved in the same period in the year 2020, with an increase of QR. 27 million, representing an increase rate of 12%. The earning per share for the period amounted to QR. 0.25 compared to QR. 0.23 for the same period of last year 2020.</p><p>The increase in net profit and earnings per share compared to the same period in 2020 was due to the relative increase in sales of petroleum and non-petroleum products, and to a 15% reduction in administrative and general expenditures costs prompted by the implementation of the efficiency and cost optimization policy. </p><p>As for the company's operations, Mr. Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi, Managing Director and CEO, explained that the First Quarter of 2021 witnessed an increase in diesel sales by 3%, super gasoline sales by 10%, natural gas by 21%, retail fuel sales by 4% and non-petroleum retail sales by 5%, thanks to the opening of several additional fuel stations in the period following the first quarter of 2020. On the other hand, jet fuel sales decreased by 23% compared to the same period in the year 2020, due to the decline in airline activities following the spread of the Corona pandemic and restrictions imposed on many airports around the world. </p><p>On the other hand, Al Muhannadi explained that during the first quarter of 2021the company opened a new gas station in Al Mearad area, and therefore the total number of stations by the end of the first Quarter 2021 amounted to 107 stations. He explained that the company intends to complete the construction of five (5) more new stations by the end of the fourth quarter of 2021, and further explained that WOQOD has a dynamic plan in the construction of the new stations that is being reviewed periodically according to the conditions of fuels demand and the need for fuel stations.</p><p>In conclusion, Al-Muhannadi stressed that WOQOD has been closely coordinating and cooperating with all partners in order to implement the official directives issued by the State of Qatar with the aim of combating the spread of the corona "COVID-19" pandemic. Earning by share for the period amounted to QR. 0.71, compared to QR 1.22 for the past year, while Shareholders Equity decreased by about 1.3% to reach about 8.6 billion riyals compared to 8.7 billion riyals for 2019. On the other hand, sales of bunker fuel and natural gas increased by 7% and 13%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019, while non-oil retail sales revenues, including Sidra sales, increased by 11%, due to the opening of several new petrol stations. In this regard, Al Muhannadi pointed out that the company has supported the non-oil retail services sector by marketing its automotive service products (oils and greases) through tie-up with international manufacturers of these products.</font></span></p><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font><p style="margin:6pt 0in 0pt;"><span style="line-height:115%;font-size:12pt;"><font color="#000000" face="Times New Roman">The Board reviewed and approved the current and future projects that the company plans to establish, where the company has opened one technical inspection center, and 12 new petrol stations, thus increased the number of stations operating by the end of 2020 to 108 stations, and the number of technical inspection centers reached 12 centers. The first quarter of 2021 will witness the completion of the construction and operation of three new stations, in addition to five (5) other stations to be completed in year 2021.
