Doha-Qatar, 28 December, 2015 - As part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans to be able to serve every neighbourhood in Qatar, and in line with its commitment to meet the fuel and energy needs of the country, Qatar Fuel “WOQOD” opened its eighth consecutive service station for 2015 in Al Mas’habiya area near Abu Samra boarder, being the second WOQOD outlet in the area.
The new service station, and under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Bin Hassan Al Thani, WOQOD’s Chairman, was inaugurated WOQOD’s CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Jaham Al-Kuwari.
Built at a cost of QAR 17 million, the new petrol station is spread over an area of 12,000 square metres and has 6 lanes and 6 dispensers. The station will also offer round-the-clock services to residents of the Abu Samra community, and travellers to Qatar arriving through the Abu Samra border, including Sidra convenience store, multi-function bay, which will provide auto repair, tyre services and manual wash in addition to selling gasoline and diesel products.
WOQOD’s CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Jaham Al-Kuwari, said, “The expansion of our service network in Qatar will bring us closer to our customers and help us achieve our goal of providing them with access to best-in-class products and services at their convenience and comfort. The new opening reaffirms our growth strategy that is designed to meet the rising demand for petroleum and allied products by the public, in line with the sustained urban growth Qatar is witnessing across all regions.”
This is the 31st new opening completed by Woqod , with earlier openings this year of the New Al Rayyan, Bin Derham, Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakra, Wajba, Al Thakhira and Lijimiliya service stations. WOQOD plans to have three new centres for vehicle inspection (Fahes) at Shahabiya, Al Wukair and Al Khor by early next year.
WOQOD’s expansion strategy seeks to increase the total number of service stations operated by the company to 100 by 2020 given land availability by the authorities. Plans are to have most of the new petrol stations located on the outskirts of the country’s capital or in one of the fast-growing towns outside Doha.
