Doha-Qatar, 10 December, 2015 - In line with its commitment to meet the fuel and energy needs of Qatar, and as part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans to grow its network of service stations locally, Qatar Fuel “WOQOD” opened its 30th service station in Doha’s Al Rayyan area.
The new service station was inaugurated by the CEO Engr. Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari, in the presence of senior management team, in addition to high profile guests from Qatar’s diverse business sectors.
The new petrol station built at a cost of QAR 20 million is spread over an area of 6000 square metres, and has 6 fuel lanes that will serve the neighbourhoods of New Rayyan, Rayyan, Wajba, adjoining Gharrafa area and the Qatar Foundation community. The station will offer round-the-clock services including Sidra convenience store, Kenar shops and sale of LPG cylinders.
Engr. Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari, commented during the event, “The new opening reflects our ambitious plans to expand our network and accessibility within Qatar, in order to cater to the growing needs from the local market and ensure that high quality products and services are available to all our customers at their convenience across the country.”
This is the seventh new opening completed by Woqod this year with earlier openings of the Bin Derham, Al Lagthafiya, Al Wakra, Wajba, Al Thakhira and Lijimiliya service stations. Woqod plans to have three new centres for vehicle inspection (Fahes) at Shahabiya, Al Wukair and Al Khor by early next year.
WOQOD’s expansion strategy seeks to increase the total number of service stations operated by the company to 100 by 2020 given land availability by the authorities. Other projects are currently under construction or tendering stages and will be opened in 2016.
