Qatar Fuel (WOQOD), Qatar’s sole provider of petroleum, related products and services and its affiliate companies : WOQOD Marine Services, and WOQOD Vehicles Inspection (FAHES) today announced that the companies have achieved the certification for ISO 1400:2004 for Environmental Management System (EMS). With its Quality Management System already certified to ISO 9001:2008 for the past four years, WOQOD continues to show the company’s unwavering commitment to global standards and continual improvement.

The voluntary achievement of ISO 14001:2004 certification demonstrates WOQOD’s dedication to environmentally responsible business practices. WOQOD customers can be confident that the company complies with Qatar environmental laws and other requirements and ensures environmental objectives are established and monitored.

“WOQOD takes a very serious approach towards the impact of our activities and products to the environment,” said Mohammad Turki Al- Sobai, WOQOD’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Woqod. “We focus on managing the impacts of our products we market in all distribution channels and embed environmental accountability in all our activities . This includes all activities of Marine Services and Fahes HQ at the Industrial Area and all other new Fahes Centers which will be commissioned very soon to cover most of the strategic areas of the State. The ISO 14001:2004 certification is our evidence of our commitment to continually improving our environmental performance” , Al- Sobai added.

WOQOD management is now focused on embedding their EMS in the way they do business . In coordination with official bodies in Qatar, especially the Ministry of Environment, different voluntary campaigns for community services were organized to clean up trash and debris along beaches and other places with the participation of WOQOD volunteers.

Certification to the ISO 14001 standard requires companies to identify and control the environmental impacts of their activities, products and services. ISO 14001 also requires companies to continually improve their environmental performance and implement a systematic approach to setting and achieving international environmental targets and objectives.
