The traditional image of petrol stations is about to change following the inauguration of the newest Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) Petrol Station in the Messaimer 1 area of Doha on 26 April 2006. H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy & Industry unveiled the WOQOD totem and commemorative plaque in the presence of officials from the government, Qatar petroleum, WOQOD and their suppliers.

Apart from offering regular services such as: refueling, oil change, car wash, the station accommodates a mosque and a modern convenience store where customers can enjoy their favorite beverages, access to the internet, newspapers and much more, 24 hours a day.

The station was in fact designed while taking into consideration customer recommendations such as forecourts that are easy to drive onto, and gasoline grades that are easy to see. All customer service personnel have received intensive training in first aid, fire fighting, basics of Arabic, customer service and product knowledge.

Innovation was a driving force as well throughout the construction of the station. Fuel tanks are double-walled and have leak detection systems, and a new fuels grade at 95 octanes is available for the first time in Doha to satisfy customer demand. The car washes are fast and efficient yet recycle 90% of the water used to minimize environmental impact. Recycling points are available at the station and customers are encouraged to leave their used paper, plastic, glass and aluminum in designated bins.

The new Petrol Station is only one of many to be launched in the coming months. WOQOD plans to build 50 service stations in the next five years across Qatar.
