WOQOD is highly committed to addressing the challenges of sustainable
development. At WOQOD sustainability is embedded in all areas of operations
with the hopes of delivering the energy required for a growing population in a
responsible, balanced and safe way that is promoting environmental protection,
social development and economic growth so that future generations are not
compromised by the actions taken today. WOQOD
has designed its approach to corporate citizenship to encompass the broader sustainability
objectives of society as well mitigate the impact of its operations on the
local environment, society and economy.
Sustainability Reporting
WOQOD uses its sustainability report as a tool to provide a
general overview of its social and environmental performance to its key
stakeholders. These key stakeholders include but are not limited to, shareholders,
investors, local community, employees, customers and government.
WOQOD applies international reporting guidelines from IPIECA
and GRI when reporting its sustainability performance. The Global Reporting Initiative
(GRI) provides a framework that can be applied to all types of organizations in
the tracking of their social, environmental and economic performance. This
framework which has adopted a standardized approach has allowed for greater
accountability, transparency and both internal and external benchmarking. These
guidelines help ensure that WOQOD covers the broad range of topics identified
by stakeholders.
WOQOD also reports against the IPIECA /API/IOGP guidelines,
which is a sector specific set of sustainability reporting guidelines for the
Oil and Gas industry. Applying this framework will help ensure WOQOD identifies
issues that are likely to be relevant to the Oil and Gas sector. The value of
applying various reporting elements is that it provides a scope for WOQOD to
tailor their reporting to their individual situation as well as pointing the
way for the future.
